Spiritual Formation
Christian Education is a very important part of our faith journey and life together at First Presbyterian Church. Each Sunday morning, hour-long classes are held for every age, from 3-year-olds to adults. Our classes are open to all. We hope you’ll join us!

Adult Education
We have a regularly scheduled Bible Study on Wednesday afternoons where books of the Bible are discussed or other topical studies are addressed. This meeting is available on Zoom.
During the year we have occasional opportunities to read a book together and discuss them. These books are relevant to issues of the day we find important and will help us grow spiritually and into our mission at the church. We also have seasonal studies during the Advent and Lenten Seasons, led by our Pastor, which normally focuses on topics particularly relevant to those seasons.

Sunday School for Children
9:15 am Sundays before the worship service
Our Youth classes are led by our members, with a curriculum centered on the Narrative Lectionary story also being addressed during worship. These classes include a short period with our music director, where they learn hymns or prepare for occasional performances during worship services or on special occasions such as the Christmas Pageant.
Confirmation Class (8th Grade and up)
We offer an annual Confirmation class which meets at a time agreed upon by the students. It is a mission-oriented program, through which they enter a process to help them decide if they would like to be confirmed. These young people select a group project where they can serve their community. Each student is also accompanied by a mentor to help them discern their own meaningful project.
Mission Focus
Mission is very important at our church as we focus on our Youth becoming more aware of those less fortunate, both in our community and around the world. Our Sunday School classes occasionally feature guest speakers, who discuss topics like mission work in Nicaragua and Africa, as well as from our own church camp in Oregon, Illinois. Our Youth are also encouraged to contribute through their offerings to mission organizations, shopping for toys for needy children in our community at Christmas and donating food throughout the year.
Community Garden
Our young people take pride in the community garden, which they prepare and plant. This is a way in which they can fully participate in "feeding our neighbors".
